Here is the story of Stress & Recovery: To become stronger, faster, and fitter, you have to push (or stress) your body. Training fatigues muscles causing microscopic damage to muscle cells. This triggers your body’s immune system to repair the damage. When your body’s tissues (muscles, bones, heart, lungs, etc.) recover, they will be slightly fitter than they were before. This way, the next time you complete the same training, you won’t suffer as much damage.
